CHAPTER / PRODUCT CARE
Start with the exact product and source
There is no one storage rule or side-effect list for everything called a peptide.
GENERAL CLAIM
“Peptides need refrigeration.”
PRODUCT RULE
Some products require cold storage and others are kept at room temperature; the product label or pharmacy directions control.
Instructions belong to the finished product, not the broad category.
Why the source matters
FDA has told sellers that injected products can cause serious harm because they bypass some of the body’s defences against toxins and germs.
Poor compounding can result in contamination or the wrong amount of active ingredient.
When help is urgent
A severe allergic reaction may come on within seconds or minutes. That is an emergency: call 911 for severe symptoms.
The CDC describes sepsis, the body’s extreme response to infection, as a life-threatening medical emergency.
Keep the record
- Save the package, the label, the lot number printed on it (it shows which batch the product came from), and written directions.
- Write down when the problem started and what happened.
- Contact the treating clinician or emergency help as the situation requires.
- Patients can report product problems through FDA MedWatch.
