CHAPTER / IN PERSON

A room does not remove the need to check

In-person care makes an examination possible. The same basic questions about the clinician, product, pharmacy, and follow-up still apply.

IN PERSON ADDS

A physical setting, direct observation, and access to an exam when it matters.

IT DOES NOT PROVE

That a product is approved, a pharmacy is properly licensed, or a sales claim is supported.

Where you are seen is only one part of good care. The clinician, the medicine, and the pharmacy still need checking.

Use the visit for the hard questions

  • What exact problem is being assessed?
  • What is the medicine’s own name (not the brand), and is it approved or compounded?
  • What information could change the plan?
  • Who handles a problem after the visit?

Keep product and procedure separate

A clinician’s licence answers who may practise. The medicine record answers whether a finished product is approved. The pharmacy record answers who may dispense.

No one badge answers all three questions.

When online may not be enough

If the needed assessment cannot be completed through a screen or available records, the next step may be an in-person examination.

Virginia requires online prescribing to meet the standard expected of in-person care.
